About
The species of the order Cryptophyceae (hereafter referred to as cryptomonads) are unicellular, biflagellate, mostly photosynthetic microorganisms. This online help is intended as a supplement to the monograph “Handbooks of cryptomonads – Taxonomy, description and distribution” written by Viktória B-Béres. This database contains 38 freshwater cryptomonad species. This is a guide for professionals to reduce the number of species that could potentially be considered.
It has two interfaces: Taxa browser and Taxonomy.
In the Taxa browser you can search for the shape of the individual species.
In the Taxonomy you can find the dichotomous keys of the 38 freshwater cryptomonads. They can be filtered by the height and width of the species, and then further filtered by shape, the number of pyrenoid, and colour. If the latter are not known, unknown is left. Among the species filtered are those for which there is a potential match.
